An immersive Black Mirror experience is coming to London
Starting to feel like you’re in an episode of Black Mirror? Now you really can be.
An immersive experience from the Barbican Centre’s upcoming sci-fi exhibition, Into the Unknown: A Journey Through Science Fiction, will be putting you in to the Black Mirror world.
The Barbican’s entrance hall will feature a six-foot video installation based on the 15 Million Merits episode, which starred actor Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Jessica Brown Findlay (currently in the Almeida’s Hamlet).
Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker wrote the episode with his wife, TV presenter Konnie Huq. Together, they imagined a dystopian future where people had to earn merits on exercise bikes in order to audition for reality TV judges.
The installation will feature moments from the episode displayed across multiple screens, offering an immersive entrance to the epic new show, which will also feature props from Alien, Jurassic Park and Godzilla.
The exhibition will the story of sci-fi through literature, film, art, comics, music and video games.
Into the Unknown: A Journey Through Science Fiction is at the Barbican from 3 June to 1 September.
