Pitch to the Mayor of London for cash to improve your London neighbourhood

Fancy pitching to get money for your local area?

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan is asking Londoners to pitch to improve their local areas through a crowdfunding scheme.

Yes, it’s your chance to get money for your local beauty spots.

Have a community hall that’s seen better days? Or a lake which could do with some TLC? You can now start a crowdfund campaign for a chance to attract financial pledges not just from the public, but from the Mayor’s office with the selected schemes receiving up to £50,000.

The London Economic Action Partnership (LEAP) is allocating £4 million in funding to pledges… so it’s worth putting your best writing to the test.

The Mayor said they’re after the ‘most innovative projects Londoners can come up with’ that need to be ‘deliverable and have the support of local people’.

Well Street Market in Hackney has already benefited from the scheme after the local traders’ association raised more than £80,000 on the Spacehive platform, including £20,000 from the Mayor.

The money went towards a live music stage, wifi and a ‘Students Market’.
