A perfect anniversary meal at Goodman’s Mayfair
A last minute booking for an anniversary meal turned out to be the perfect choice!
Goodman sits on the edge of Mayfair, just off Regent Street. The friendly, upmarket restaurant offers “great steak, great wine and great people”, and that couldn’t be closer to the truth.
We were sat by our friendly waiter next to the window (the view of a hotel and some building work wasn’t ideal but you can’t have it all, especially in London ). After looking extensively at the menu we thought we knew exactly what we were going to order but luckily our waiter steered us in the right direction.
Starting with two glasses of Prosecco to celebrate, we quickly moved onto a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with subtle but sweet and fruity tones.
We ordered the Australian Angus Beef Rib-Eye steak and a beautiful British grass-fed steak from their special menu, with sides of Mac and Cheese with truffle sauce and parmesan, spinach with garlic and lemon and the most incredible truffle and parmesan chips.
The truffle and parmesan triple cooked chips might possibly have been the most incredible thing I have ever tasted and would certainly return for those alone. My medium rare steak came out excellently; deliciously silky and and seasoned to perfection.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, the waiter service was friendly and helpful. The food was faultless.
To finish off the evening, despite being more full than I’ve ever been before, we ordered desserts. I ordered Anne-Marie’s Outrageous Cookie Sundae with Chocolate and Caramel sauce and whipped cream, which was melt-in-the-mouth gorgeous, and Alfie ordered the sorbet (which was lovely too, but nowhere near as magnificent as mine). The desserts were made even more special by the staff writing ‘Happy Anniversary’ in chocolate on our plates, a small but greatly appreciated sentiment.
Our overall experience at Goodman was excellent. We certainly hold them in high regard and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality, personable experience.
