Celebrate Chinese New Year in Covent Garden at these spots!

Everyone can dine out in Covent Garden for a taste of Chinese New Year….

There’s loads going on that will get you in the spirit! First up… Buns & Buns will celebrate the Year of the Pig with Chinese-inspired bourbon-glazed 24-hour slow-cooked pork belly bao buns.

Diners can head to the foodie-favourite, Taiwanese export Din Tai Fung, for internationally-celebrated dumplings, shao mai buns and the restaurant’s famous six-hour steamed chicken soup.

At RedFarm diners can enjoy a special Chinese New Year menu designed by Executive Chef Joe Ng, featuring black truffle soup dumplings and grilled lobster with black truffle cauliflower sauce. Customers can play the Lucky Number 8 Dice game for a chance to win prizes ranging from a custard bao to a meal for two.

New York export Balthazar joins the festivities with a Chinese New Year menu including Asian style confit duck with crisp vegetables and a hoisin dressing, and diners can finish with a New Year macaroon – a red macaroon with gold leaf & chocolate mandarin ganache.

Newly-opened French tea house Mariage Frères has created a special all-new tea blend for the occasion – ‘Thé Des Signes – Cochon’. Joining the brand’s existing Asian zodiac collection of teas, this blend is presented in a striking handmade fuchsia tin and features a subtle composition of organic green tea with delicate hints of rose and Tibetan goji berries.
