Milkshakes are having something of a resurgence.

All over London our favourite foodie spots are offering dairy filled drinks, with freakshakes bringing a whole new mix to the game. From traditional flavours, to burgers and chicken – there’s now a shake for every slurper.

We’ve done the hard work for you and tracked down 5 of the very best London has to offer.

Burdock

Burdock is located on the ground floor of the Montcalm Royal London House hotel and offers some of the poshes freakshakes you’ll find.

The freakshake flavours range from the Bourbon On Bourbon, which pairs Bulleit whisky with the classic chocolate biscuit, to the Health Freak, a twist on the freakshake trend that uses fat-free yoghurt, chia seeds and spirulina algae.

There’s also a Jam Custard Doughnut freakshake with a creamy concoction of strawberry jam and custard. Yes please!

Dirty Bones

American themed restaurant Dirty Bones are known for their top class mac ‘n’ cheese balls, fish tacos, and epic burgers.

But you’ll want to save room for one of their booze filled milkshakes. There’s Shadow which is filled with bourbon, the Banilla Ice, or the Butter Baby, made with butterscotch, vanilla ice-cream, milk, and Ketel One vodka.

There’s also shakes without alcohol including the Shadow Shake with double chocolate ice cream, Oreo and chocolate sauce. Yum.

Maxwell’s Bar & Grill

Known as one of the founders of the freakshake in London, Maxwell’s Bar & Grill mixes up their flavours monthly.

Maxwell’s launched Freakshakes in 2015 and have since served up to 20 different flavours. Currently on the specials board is a Unicorn Freakshake, as well as the Salted Caramel Donut Freakshake, Oreo Cookie Freakshake and the Freakshake from Mars.

The Unicorn Freakshake features a pink bubble gum shake topped with whipped cream, unicorn hair floss, pink marshmallows, love hearts, rainbow candy and is topped off with a marshmallow unicorn horn.

Byron

It may surprise you, but one of Britain’s best burger chains now sells some of the best freakshakes in London too.

Their two shakes are inspired by American candy classics with an Oreo cookies and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups freakshake on offer. Served in pint glasses with a large plate, it’s a messy affair!

Canvas Café

We never forget the vegans, and this vegan freakshake spot offers home-made vegan ice cream with all the ingredients are ethically sourced!

Flavours on the menu include chocolate, raspberry, and avocado, topped with vegan meringue, raw cakes and pistachios.
