Marmite XO is back in Tesco stores… and is as strong as ever!

Marmite XO is hitting shelves at Tesco stores nationwide!

Following overwhelming public demand to bring back the special-edition flavour. With nearly ten years since its first limited release, the special gold and black jar is expected to be incredibly sought after.

The recipe was first created in 2010 following extensive sampling with members of the Marmararti – the secret society formed by Marmite’s biggest devotees. The group tasted a number of formulas before selecting the current XO recipe.

What makes Marmite XO so unique? The XO (Extra Old) formula has been matured for 28 days – four times longer than the classic version, resulting in a more intense, full-bodied taste.

Whether it’s smothered on a crumpet or spread on a slice of sourdough, the recipe has built a cult following – with the public often taking to social media to call for its return.

With a limited number of cases currently in production and previous special-edition jars fetching bids of up to £5,100 on eBay*, the coveted jar is set to be a hit with the nation, this summer.

Camilla Williamson, Brand Manager at Marmite, said: “The British public have been pleading for the return of Marmite XO for some time and we’re delighted to team up with Tesco to give them exactly what they want.”

“We can’t wait to spread the love by ensuring everyone has a chance to sample the deliciously coveted taste of the nation’s favourite savoury spread.”

The 250g jars will be available exclusively in select Tesco stores from 8th July at an RRP of £3.99.
