New pizzeria Laboratorio brings a slice of Neapolitan flair to Fitzrovia

Taste the fresh, vibrant flavours of Napoli in central London!

Building on a formula that has already enjoyed success in Brick Lane, the 70-cover venue offers diners an unforgettable experience inspired by restaurateur Ivan Simeoli’s Neapolitan roots and the spiritual home of the pizza.

For more than 20 years, Ivan has drawn upon Mediterranean traditions and worked with authentic local ingredients to create mouth-watering dishes that truly evoke the Neapolitan way of life.

A former head chef at Gigi’s and Osteria 60, Ivan has worked with some of the best chefs around. Ivan has created a menu that focuses on artisan bread-making, part of the cultural tradition of his homeland.

As such, all dishes at Laboratorio Pizza in Fitzrovia will have a bread or dough element – and all prepared on site from scratch.

Using only the best Italian, British and Mediterranean ingredients, Ivan’s menu includes everything from genuine Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) Neapolitan Pizza made with San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella Fior di Latte from Agerola, to fresh “Vaccino” Ricotta and olive oil fro Tenuta Capezzana to Pizza Fritta, a favourite among Napoli’s street food fanatics that involves sealing the topping between two layers of dough and deep-frying until crispy.

Complementing these is a range of Mediterranean-inspired pasta dishes, appetising antipasti, and delicious dips – perfect for dunking pizza crusts – and sumptuous desserts.

As with the Brick Lane outlet, the atmosphere is relaxed, informal and convivial while the restaurant itself is brought to life by the elegant surroundings and layout design by young Italian architect Maria Morra.

Creativity extends beyond the kitchen and front of house too: Ivan designed his own logo, one that resembles a slice of pizza and a mask used in traditional Neapolitan theatre, while at the same time paying homage to the Pirandello novel Uno, Nessuno e Centomila (One, No one and One Hundred Thousand).

The 70-covers Great Portland Street venue will open Monday – Sunday from midday to midnight serving lunch and dinner first before adding brunch and brunch deals later in the year.
