Fatt Pundit are hosting a huge Indo-Chinese New Year celebration this Saturday!
Fatt Pundit is a combination of the common Chinese surname ‘Fatt’ with the Indian word ‘Pundit’ (a scholar).
The London spot is an “Indo Chinese” restaurant, which offers a very specific style of cuisine originating from Kolkata’s diaspora of Hakka Chinese immigrants.
Combining traditional Chinese ingredients and techniques with bold Indian flavours, Fatt Pundit’s unique “Hakka” cuisine makes for an exciting alternative to this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations.
They’re celebrating Chinese New Year on Saturday 25th January with a special menu.
For the festival, Fatt Pundit will be serving up some special dishes available exclusively for the celebrations – Szechuan Momos and Lamb Boti Paratha – slow cooked, scallion pancake, caramelised onions – alongside some of their acclaimed dishes from the ALC menu.
They’ll be Kid Goat Momos with Garam Masala, Cardamom, Ginger and Garlic; Spicy Lollipop Chicken served with Szechuan Chutney; Crackling Spinach with a Sweet Yogurt, Pomegranate and a Date and Plum Sauce; and Pomegranate and Rabbit Wontons with burnt garlic, black beans and chilli oil – with a few small surprises thrown in on the evening to make it extra special.
Indo-Chinese cooking is a very particular style and as the cuisine is rare in the UK, Fatt Pundit takes particular pride in the training its chefs do for new recruits, spreading the skillset and influence of Indo-Chinese cooking.
